Alphabet stencil fun

When you’re snowed in, you start getting creative about how to spend the day. For me, that meant finally diving into some new craft supplies I’d been meaning to try. They’d been sitting untouched in their packages like little treasures waiting for attention. So, I tucked each one into its own protective envelope — a tiny bit of organizing to make myself feel productive — and then happily settled in to play.

I used the Alphabet Stencil from LDRS Creative—check out their site to see everything this set has to offer. I’ll be trying out a bunch of them.

Surprise Inks

Hello! It's a beautiful day here in Dayton Ohio. If there was perfect weather it would be today. Anyhoo, let's get to checking out my newest creations using these marvelous Cloud 9 inks.

They are a versatile ink consisting of Interference, Color Shifting and Metallics.

Now these have been out for a while, but so many of my fellow crafters are unaware of their unique qualities OR how to use them. So, I am bringing you a peek at some of the techniques I used. (I have found that the Tim Holtz blending tool works best for me)

Cloud 9 inks are a great addition to your ink collection!

Using a brayer and your ink pad, spread the color lightly over the embossed surface to achieve this surprise shimmer and elevate your card look.

With this card I used the Blue Knight stamp "Star Gazing Deer" on top of a background blended with Cloud 9 Inks then splattered with diluted white watercolor paint.

Boo!  The moon was stenciled with the awesome Tim Holtz Moon Mask , it comes with 3 different sized moons. These Inks show as different shimmers on black and white.

(2 colors for the price of one ink pad, How great is that!!)

This beautiful moody background card was also done using a blending of Cloud 9 inks and a Blue Knight Stamp Tall Pines.

Lastly, I have for you a "mistake".  Here's the story...
My best friend and I were having a craft day together to play with these inks, we smooshed the inks on a glass mat and sprayed them with alcohol then dabbed the paper onto the misted colors. It did not turn out as planned so it was set to the side, (disappointed with the result), however I looked at it again and thought "I can salvage that" so I flipped it around a few times and saw a dusky sky and had the perfect stamp for it. Voila! A mistake (or ugly ink smooshing) made useful.
And to think I was going to throw that background away!!

Please leave a comment or question
and I will get back to you, thank you for visiting!

It's that spooky time of the year!

Now I know it's early September, but the season of Halloween is upon us!! It's beginning to feel like Fall; the morning air is crisp the sweaters are being unpacked and everything spooky is coming.  Colors are changing to a deep and vibrant hue. It's the time when the bold and beautiful inks come out of hiding and are used for blending and coloring bold and beautiful cards.

I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Wilted Violet, Festive Berries and Villainess Potion.  The balloon was blended using Cloud 9 interference ink in Pumpkin Spice.

I know these striking colors will get your creative juices flowing and be a great addition to your cardmaking supplies!

Thanks for stopping by. ENJOY your crafty day.

baby shower card

Hello again! Today my daughter asked me to make a baby shower card for a friend of hers who is having a baby girl. She said it was also a floral themed shower. I had carte blanche on what to do with those parameters. So, here is what I did for her. Using PINKFRESH Studio Arch Floral.

New Card

Hello,

Today I am adding a few cards made with Altenew products. I embossed 100 # White cardstock with the Fairy Tale Florals Botanical 3D Embossing Folder. Then I positioned the Fairy Tale Florals detailed Stencil set over the embossed image. There is a stamp and die that goes along with this (but I didn't purchase them). I had so much fun with this set using the different ALTENEW FRESH DYE INKS.

This card is being entered in the January challenge at ALTENEW (as well as the card listed below)

I'm back to teach a few fun classes using the same stencil for both classes!!

   Hi all,

It's been a while (long while) since I've been at Maco's Paper to teach.

I have fallen in love with all things PINK FRESH STUDIO and with that said I'd like to introduce you all to the beauty and versatility of their products!  That's why I've chosen a few unique card folds using a set called BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS. You will be using the Beautiful Blooms layering stencils – Pinkfresh Studio from that set for both classes in different ways. The stencil is necessary for you to have for the class and when you sign up for the class you will get a percentage off of the stencil (great for you).

So, sign up soon, Beautiful Blooms Vase & Envelope with Lisa Nelson -- July 13 - Marco's Paper (marcopaper.com) and if the class is sold out, I will do a second class! Can't wait to come back and share what I love to do. Hugs to all, see you soon!

In this class all flowers will be stamped and embossed (powder) you just need to use inks of your choice and your stencils to complete the flowers!

Woo Hoo It takes a DT call

It takes a DT call to get me off my butt and join the crafting world again. It's been a long journey for me this past year and a half. I went from a very Part time creative job and Design teams to a very demanding full time job!! Not an easy feat when you have never worked like that before. Now that I have that part of my life  relatively comfortably handled it's time to get my creative life back. I am starting to color again, design cards , do vinyl work , even tried my hand at knitting ( that was interesting lol) I begin pottery classes with my granddaughter soon and Jewelry soldering and design next month !

So here is a sampling of what I've been up to
